Job Opportunity: FIS Head Coach Through discussions at the North Zone Chair’s meetings in Edmonton AB, the clubs in the Alberta North Zone (NZ) agreed that offering a FIS program within our region is important not only to those that would race at that level, but to the overall strength and development of younger racers, coaches and volunteers, as well as the local race clubs viability and vitality. The AB North FIS program is currently accepting applications for the position of FIS Head Coach. The successful candidate will possess the skills to foster an environment of fair play and high performance.
The goals of the AB North FIS program are to: • Retain skiers at the U18 level and promote LTAD and Sport for Life • Support participating athletes in their skiing-related goals • Support and create a pathway that strengthens the clubs involved • Advance skiers to the Alberta Ski Team
Specific Duties: Reporting directly to the AB NZ FIS team designated Program Director (Chad Mansell). The position is responsible for: • The preparation and implementation of a Yearly Training Plan (YTP) for a Train to Race program promoting the technical and tactical development of the athletes. • Working with the Program Director, develop and manage a detailed budget, which is aligned to the YTP. • Work closely with the program’s Operating Committee, Alberta Alpine and ACA on initiatives to support athletes and system alignment. • maintenance of effective training tools and equipment • Identification of key competitive opportunities, and training situations which will help the development of the athletes
Qualifications: • Performance Level (3) or Development Level Advanced Certified and working on moving through the Performance level pathway. • Experience coaching high performance athletes • FIS experience is essential. • Kinesiology, Physical Education or related university degree in human movement is a strong asset. • Valid class 4 drivers license
